SL&RR and the LGTBIQ community

Deakin University has partnered with Inclusion Melbourne to develop a pilot SL&RR program for LGTBIQ people with intellectual disability. A research grant from the Pride Foundation (formerly known as the Gay & Lesbian Foundation of Australia (GALFA)) funded SL&RR to gather stories from LGBTIQ people with an intellectual disability about sexuality, rights and respectful relationships in their lives. This pilot was evaluated by the University of Melbourne and received a National Desirability Leadership Award under the Inclusion Category.

The Deakin team also partnered with Pride Foundation to develop some research to explore and better understand the experiences of LGTBIQA+ people with disabilities. This research began in 2019 and will finish in 2020.
